John Shanken-Kaye, Ph.D.

John M. Shanken-Kaye, Ph.D. is a Forensic and Counseling Psychologist and Educational Consultant. The Director of ACES, Dr. Shanken-Kaye has been practicing in Doylestown, Pennsylvania for 20 years. During this time he has worked effectively with children, adolescents, their families and teachers. A specialist in Forensics, Dr. Shanken-Kaye is a recognized expert in Child Custody, Personality Assessment, Risk Assessment, Parental Competence, Competency to Stand Trial, and Insanity Defense.

Dr. Shanken-Kaye  is the co-author, with James Levin, Ph.D., of The Self-Control Classroom, Understanding and Managing the Disruptive Behavior of all Students Including Students with ADHD (1996, Kendall/Hunt Pub., Dubuque Iowa) and From Disrupter to Achiever: Creating Successful Learning Environments for the Self-Control Classroom (2003, Kendall/Hunt Pub., Dubuque Iowa).

Dr. Shanken-Kaye is a contracted therapist for the Bucks County Juvenile Court as well as Bucks County Office of Children and Youth. He has been appointed by the Governor of Pennsylvania to two consecutive four-year terms on the PA Sex Offender Assessment Board.

Dr. Shanken-Kaye is a consultant to hundreds of school districts nationwide on the topics of self-esteem, motivation, and behavior management. A sought after speaker, he has provided in-service education to thousands of teachers, parents, justice professionals, lawyers, and psychologists on the topics of classroom management, the cause of disruptive and delinquent behavior, effective parenting, parent coordination, self-esteem, and motivation.

Eric Weinstein, Psy.D.

Eric Weinstein, Psy.D. is a Licensed Psychologist who has been in practice with the Associates for Counseling and Educational Services since 1999.  He received his doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Chestnut Hill College with a specialization in Assessment.  Dr. Weinstein's training includes an internship in Neuropsychology in the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, PA as well as training in assessment and research at the Arthur P. Noyes Research Foundation at Norristown State Hospital in Norristown, PA.  He has a variety of clinical experience working in community mental health agencies, hospitals, schools, and private practice and currently specializes in adolescent psychology, young adult and adult psychotherapy.  Dr. Weinstein's practice includes individual psychotherapy, family therapy and assessment of personality, intellectual and cognitive functioning as well as conducting forensic evaluations.  Dr. Weinstein also acts as a consultant to assist companies in online behavioral targeting and youth marketing for strategic planning and media buys.  He is listed in the National Register of Health Service Providers in Psychology and is a member of several national and state organizations including the American Psychological Association, the Pennsylvania Psychological Association, the American Psychology-Law Society and the National Academy of Neuropsychology.

Susan Kuczura, Psy.D.

Susan Kuczura, Psy.D. is a licensed psychologist who has been working with children, adolescents and families for more than 15 years.  A graduate of Temple University and Chestnut Hill College, she enjoys working with children and young adults who exhibit Pervasive Developmental Disorders (Autism and Asperger's).  She is a member of the American Psychological Association and Pennsylvania Psychological Association. 

Susan served as the Clinical Director of a BHRS agency servicing Philadelphia County.  While there, she collaborated with teachers, parents and the school district concerning behavior management and classroom interventions as well as overseeing the supervision of outside classroom aides, therapists, and behavior specialists.

Dr. Kuczura worked with Hahnemann University's Inner Personal Cognitive Problem Solving skills program (ICPS) involving school aged children with behavioral problems.  Susan conducted research and worked closely with Abington Memorial Hospital's Safe Harbor program, a bereavement support group for children and adults.  In addition to her work with children and young adults, Dr. Kuczura also specializes in anxiety, self-growth and depression with adults.

Mary G. Brownsberger, Psy.D., ABPP

Mary G. Brownsberger, Psy.D. is a Rehabilitation Neuropsychologist and is Board Certified in Rehabilitation Psychology. She is expert in working with individuals across the lifespan, particularly those who are living with disability or a chronic medical condition, or those who are nearing the end of life. She also provides neuropsychological assessment, diagnosis and treatment for individuals who have experienced brain injury, stroke, spinal cord injury, traumatic events, memory problems, anxiety disorders, behavioral problems and others.

 

Dr. Brownsberger completed her doctorate in clinical psychology at La Salle University in Philadelphia. She received pre-doctoral training in rehabilitation neuropsychology at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, and Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York City. Her post-doctoral fellowship in neuropsychology was completed at Bancroft NeuroHealth in Cherry Hill, NJ. 

 

Dr. Brownsberger is recognized by the National Register of Health Service Providers in Psychology and is listed in Madison’s Who’s Who among Executives and Professionals.  Her area of research interest is in long-term outcomes following physical rehabilitation, and she has co-authored a chapter on the assessment of community integration outcomes. She has presented on a variety of topics, including the impact of illness and caregiving on family members, rehabilitation interdisciplinary team functioning, and behavioral changes across the lifespan for survivors of brain injury. She also provides evaluation, treatment, consultation and training services to community mental health and brain injury rehabilitation organizations.

 

Dr. Brownsberger currently serves on the executive board of the Rehabilitation Psychology Division of the American Psychological Association and is active in efforts to facilitate leadership and professional development of early career psychologists. She is also a member of the National Academy of Neuropsychology, American Congress of Rehabilitation Medicine, the Clinical Neuropsychology Division of the American Psychological Association, and the Pennsylvania Psychological Association

 

Kasey M. Black, M.S.


Kasey Black is a certified school psychologist in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. She holds a BA in Psychology with a minor in Education from Haverford College. She earned her Masters of Science in School Psychology from the Pennsylvania State University, and she is currently finishing her doctorate degree from that institution. Kasey is presently employed at Council Rock School District, where she conducts psychoeducational evaluations and consults with parents and teachers to develop appropriate interventions. She is experienced in working with children with school-related academic and behavioral difficulties, including specific learning disabilities, autism-spectrum disorders, and attentional concerns. Additional areas of interest include the predictive validity of measures of cognitive ability and effective interventions for students with specific learning disabilities.

Kristen Dudley, Psy.D.


Dr. Dudley has been with ACES, LLC since 1999 while she was completing her Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Counseling. She earned her doctorate in Clinical Psychology in 2007 from LaSalle University. During the course of her education she had the opportunity to work in both in-patient and out-patient settings. She has worked with both adult and adolescent populations. Dr. Dudley specializes in working with people who present with multiple problems, including a history of drug/alcohol abuse, as well as those with anxiety problems, depression, anger management difficulties, and relationship difficulties. She has spoken on many of the above topics as well as issues of grief and loss, as experienced by children, adolescents and adults. Her work in hospital settings emphasized the importance of working collaboratively with a treatment team. In an out-patient setting, this team often includes the family, medical doctors, and other professionals in addition to the client. Dr. Dudley has extensive training and experience using Empirically Supported Treatments (ESTs) which are treatment modalities that have scientific support including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).

Sherry Pearlstein, Ph.D.

Dr. Pearlstein holds a B.S. in Bio-Psychology from Tufts University, a Masters in Psychological Services in Education from the University of Pennsylvania and a Masters and a Doctorate in School Psychology from Temple University. As a child and family therapist, she has worked with children, adolescents and their families in a variety of treatment settings, including private schools, foster care, and a partial-hospital day treatment program. She is experienced in working with behavioral and emotional issues of childhood and adolescence, including ADHD, Oppositional/Defiant Disorder, Anxiety and Depression. Additional areas of interest include family dynamics, and school-based interventions for children and adolescents with learning disabilities and/or social/emotional difficulties. Dr. Pearlstein is a Pennsylvania Certified School Psychologist.

Edward Hayduk, M.S.
Ed Hayduk is a PA licensed Psychologist who has been in the field of psychology for thirty years. He resides in upper Bucks County with his wife and son. He holds a BS degree from Wilkes University and a MS degree from the University of Scranton and has done post-graduate work at Arcadia College. Ed also has a thorough education in cognitive behavioral therapy; he holds advanced training certificates from the Institute for Rational Emotive Therapy in New York City. He is knowledgeable and experienced in a broad range of counseling areas (for both youth and adults) including: crisis intervention; individual, family and group therapy; comprehensive psychological evaluation; intensive care medical/surgical psychological consultation; recovery from athletic/physical injury; psychopharmacology issues. Ed also has a strong background in the treatment of anxiety and mood disorders (dysthymia, depression, bipolar and adjustment disorder).

Ed has presented numerous workshops on such topics as stress management, holistic health, self-injury behavior in teens, and biofeedback for various community groups, health care provider groups and at professional conferences. Ed’s treatment philosophy is based on a multi-theory approach that emphasizes working with both body and mind to achieve optimal health and wellness. Ed has a long history in helping people cope with diverse stress related problems, both physiological and cognitive in nature.

Ed is also the Director of the Partial Program at Foundations Behavioral Health.

Dawn Robin Miller, M.S.Ed., N.C.C.

Dawn is a psychotherapist who joined ACES in October 2006. She received her graduate degree from the University of Pennsylvania. In her over 20 years of practice Dawn has work for agencies such as Delaware Valley Mental Health Foundation (now Foundations Behavioral Health), Lenape Valley Foundation and Valley Youth House. She also served as Program Director of the Eating Disorders Program at Somerset Medical Center in Somerville, NJ. During this time Dawn had also maintained a private practice in Doylestown since 1993. In addition to working at ACES, Dawn is currently the supervisor of The Adolescent Initiative Program at Tabor Services, Inc.  As a result of her many years of training and experience, Dawn has several areas of interest in which she specializes, they include the following:

Christine Marston, Ph.D.

Dr. Marston is a licensed clinical psychologist who brings 15 years of experience to her work with clients. She completed her doctoral degree at the California School of Professional Psychology, with an emphasis in Health Psychology. A specialist in eating disorders, she treats people struggling with anorexia, bulimia, binge eating disorder / compulsive eating and exercise issues in adolescence through midlife. Dr. Marston completed her postdoctoral training at the Renfrew Center for Eating Disorders in Philadelphia, serving as therapist and exercise program facilitator.

Christine is also a Military and Family Life Consultant. She is further experienced in treating people with depression, a history of trauma and providing mental health care to military service members and their families. A personal trainer, she is experienced in the exercise and wellness industry. Dr. Marston fuses her fitness expertise with mindfulness to offer holistic personal training / exercise groups for those with eating issues, depression and anxiety. Dr. Marston is listed in the National Register of Health Service Providers and is a member of the American Psychological Association.
 

Williard J. Shanken, M.D.
Dr. Shanken completed his residency in 1971. He served for two years in the military at Fort Sill in Oklahoma. In his second year of military service he was appointed Chief of the Department of Psychiatry. He has been in private practice since 1973. Dr. Shanken is board certified in Psychiatry and Neurology. He is certified as child, adolescent and adult psychoanalyst. Dr. Shanken is on the faculty of the Philadelphia Center for Psychoanalysis. In 1997-2003 he served as Director for Penncare Behavioral Health Services. He does both medication evaluations and treatment as well as psychotherapy and psychoanalysis. In 2006 Dr. Shanken was elected by the American Psychiatric Association to be a Distinguished Life Fellow.  He states that he “feels privileged to work with people and help them with their problems.”
Brandie Tallman Arnold, M.S., NCSP

Brandie Tallman Arnold, MS, NCSP is a doctoral candidate in the Doctor of Psychology (Psy.D.) program at Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (PCOM). She is currently working as a predoctoral intern at ACES, LLC. Throughout Ms. Arnold’s training at PCOM, she has earned a certificate in the practice of Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT). Her areas of clinical and research interest include school-related academic, social, emotional, and behavioral difficulties in children and adolescents; the emotional, social and academic needs of the mentally gifted; personality development; leadership and social influence; relationship issues; family dynamics; and issues related to blended families and divorce.

For the past 14 years, Ms. Arnold has been employed as a full-time School Psychologist in the Wilson School District in West Lawn, PA. She has extensive experience working with children and adolescents with school-related academic, social, emotional and behavioral difficulties. Additionally, she conducts psycho-educational evaluations, consults with parents, teachers, and administrators to develop appropriate interventions, and serves as an expert witness in special education due process hearings. She served as President of the Wilson Education Association, the teacher’s union at Wilson School District, from 2001-2007 and again in 2009-2011. Additionally, Ms. Arnold is a teaching assistant and an adjunct professor for the Department of Psychology at PCOM.

Ms. Arnold earned her BA in Psychology from Elizabethtown College and her MS and certification in School Psychology from Millersville University of Pennsylvania. She is certified as a School Psychologist by the Pennsylvania Department of Education, as well as the National School Psychology Certification Board.
